Paul Ryan’s (Jack in the Bean Stalk Tale)
Last week, on the Rachel Maddow show, a video was shown of Congressman, Paul Ryan, addressing his constituents.
This is the same Paul Ryan, whose apparent credo is: “Take from the needy and give to the greedy”. This is the same
Paul Ryan who proposes disposing of Medicare and substituting a coupon or voucher system instead to give to
insurance companies. What if the voucher is not enough?...well Congressman Ryan’s solution is apparently the same
as the mythical Senator McComb from the movie, “Time Cop”. Senator McComb’s (and maybe Congress Ryan’s) advice
is: “ Immigrate to Mexico for a better life”. Apparently similar advice if Ryan’s plan becomes law for Medicaid as well, as
Medicaid could disappear entirely from some states with the “Ryan’s Brave New Plan”.
Of course, with the ending of Medicaid and Medicare, the government could make a large dent in the Federal debt
caused in large part by meaningless and endless wars, and which wars make Wall Street obscenely wealthy. But that is
not Ryan’s plan. His plan is instead to use that money for continuing endless wars and to give even bigger tax breaks to
the extremely wealthy of this country.
Ryan’s plan is extremely unpopular in the country as a whole and even in his district. In the Rachel Maddow video, Ryan
is shown trying to defend his plan to give huge tax breaks to the unbelievably wealthy. Ryan told his constituents
essentially that he has a “Jack and the Bean Stalk” Theory.
The reader will recall that in the fable, Jack in the bean Stalk, Jack got scammed by a passerby who took all of his
money and in return was given a few “magic beans”. Jack was promised that the beans would grow into a giant plant with
a “golden goose” who laid eggs of pure 24 carat gold.
This is exactly was Paul Ryan is doing here. Ryan told his constituents that by giving lots of taxpayer money to the
wealthiest of people, they would of course in return, provide jobs everywhere for everyone, or something like that. This
is a theory that George Bush (number 1) called “Voo- Doo economics”. But, this is what Ryan is proposing. Magically, by
giving all of our hard earned money to the wealthiest millionaires and billionaires in this country, they would of course
give it back with jobs, jobs, jobs for all! This is just like what was told Jack as he gave all of his money for a few beans.
This is also the same fatal vision envisioned by Paul Ryan in his “Ryan’s Brave New Plan”. Clearly, Congressman Ryan
is full of beans if he expects America to buy his malarkey.
What was good to see on these Rachel Maddow videos were people standing to the hot air fairy tales being told by
Congressman Ryan and his colleagues whose intent seems to be to bring back the “good ol’ days” of when Robber
Barons ran the country and the poor, disabled, elderly, the very young, were to be used and disposed of by the Robber
Barons and by those in government who were willing pawns of those Robber Barons.
What is good to see is that those who hold Democratic ideals and ideals of Brotherhood, standing up for those ideals.
Blessed are these justice seekers, for they shall inherit the Earth.
